Betting on the Sopranos - What are the odds
I stumbled upon this great article about Betting Odds and the Sopranos - and it’s a great read since the Sopranos return on March 12th finally.
Yup - season #6………..and it took long enough.
“I know that everyone was not always very happy with us, with our long hiatuses,” says Lorraine Bracco, who plays Dr. Jennifer Melfi, the psychiatrist to mobster Tony Soprano. “I also think it’s been extremely healthy for everyone.”
It is possible that online sportsbooks may begin taking future wagers on the final outcome of the Sopranos, how the season will end (various scenarios) or even if the show ends after next year. After all, Chase has said on two occasions the series would not be renewed for another season, and that was during Season 4.
Chase has been sole judge of what happens. Others say they have no idea how he’ll end the series. “I would never want to know,” says Edie Falco, who plays Carmela Soprano, Tony’s wife.
“It’s mostly keyed off of the fact that Johnny Sack has been arrested and is facing a large RICO (racketeering and corruption) trial for murder,” he says. “People have the chance to see a possible potential future for themselves in that. And it has a ripple
effect.”
That creates an overall mood of apprehension, says Michael Imperioli, who plays Christopher Moltisanti, Tony’s distant nephew. “I picked up a little of that tone … people dissatisfied.”
Perhaps, Chase says. “I think kind of disquieted, sort of rattled, not feeling like things are going well.”
The prime focus, he says, will stick to Tony (James Gandolfini) and Carmela, their son Anthony Jr. (Robert Iler) and Christopher. There also will be a lot of business for Paulie Walnuts (Tony Sirico) and Vito Spatafore (Joe Gannascoli).
Guest stars pop in, Chase says. Julianna Margulies plays a real-estate agent, Ben Kingsley plays himself, Hal Holbrook plays “a scientist who used to work for Bell Labs in New Jersey and he’s ill and he becomes involved in the mob.”
Still, “Sopranos” isn’t really about outsiders or plot twists. Ultimately, it’s Chase’s layered view of a troubled, extended family.
